Our first outing this year and we decided to visit Castlerigg Farm again. This is our 4th year visiting this site and as usual the facilities were spotless, staff are friendly and helpful and the grounds kept to a high standard. We had a fantastic breakfast at the Hayloft Cafe which set us up for a great day's walk up Skiddaw, unfortunately the cloud was down and we had no views from the top but we still enjoyed the day. This was the first time we've visited Castlerigg Farm at this time of year and the daffodils were lovely but nothing can compare with the views from this site which are amazing. We chatted to one of the staff who informed us the facilities will hopefully be enlarged next season adding more showers and toilets. This year they have added more electricity pitches for caravans and tents which is great and we can't wait to see what is yet to come.

I've already posted reviews about this site and our previous comments have not changed, each time we visit we feel it's a relaxed, happy and a friendly place to be. I feel it's a shame the few people who find they have to complain about the 10.30pm silence rule also feel they have to embellish their review with other comments to give more impact. A previous review from Sue Brennan stating Wardens creep around listening, is a statement close to liable and her comment of wardens sounding to have South African accents which might fit in with some old African customs around camping is derogatory and racist. I hope these comments have not offended or upset anyone as they should be ignore as inappropriate remarks made by ignorant illinformed people. I hope the "clients" she met read this and get an idea of who they are dealing with. GOOGLE, you need to do something about people who make racist comments. In our opinion, if your looking for a Lake District site where it's quiet after 10.30pm, has friendly owners and staff, great views and clean facilities give this site a try and just see for yourself.
